An Afternoon at The Del Amo Fashion Center

An Afternoon at The Del Amo Fashion Center

By Kirsten

How do you end an awesome Summer and get your family ready for the start of a new year of crazy schedules?  The other week we said goodbye to Summer by heading over to the brand new Dave and Busters at the Del Amo Fashion Center for a little last minute fun before school started.

Fun isn’t limited to to the kids though!  While Dave and Busters sounds like a place for kids, it’s actually a great family fun area with great food and drinks, yes, I said drinks, as in alcohol!

My husband and I have made Dave and Busters a favorite date spot.  On this latest trip, we were invited to attend a family media event, a Scavenger Hunt at Dave and Busters!  As we were treated to cool refreshments and appetizers, we were given more information of what the Scavenger Hunt entailed.  We were given 15 minutes to locate about 30 items that are found on our persons, around Dave and Busters and the immediate area.  We were literally running through Dave and Busters from the restaurant, prize area and various games.  We received a lot of odd looks but made the best of memories as we split up to maximize the items.

After the hunt was over, we played a few more games and were invited to check out a few of the other activities to do in the mall.  We split into two groups.  My daughter and I decided to check out The Body Shop to get pampered and find out the best skin care.  I found out the best products that mimic the fountain of youth!  These “Drops of Youth” are a chemical peel that smoothed out the wrinkles on the back of my hand and even removed the age spots and scars that I had acquired in recent years!  While my daughter didn’t have wrinkles or age spots, she discovered a lovely line of Strawberry scented body creams that made her skin and hair feel soft and smell delicious.  She was a huge fan.

While we were getting pampered, my husband and son had arrived at the Servios VR Arcade.  In case you don’t know what VR is, it’s Virtual Reality. You put on a pre-cleaned VR mask and enter the game.  I had expected disorientation or confusion but the new water involved technology, it went smooth for all.  We had all given the games a shot and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it!  The game we tried was similar to Light Sabers.  We had to move and pay attention to the direction of which way you needed the Light Sabers to slice.  I found it to be a lot harder than I thought it was but a good workout as it made you move to get the highest score.  The VR games would  make a great Tween or Teen birthday party idea with a few of their close friends.
By the time that we had all tried our hand at Servios VR, we had broke a sweat and needed something to cool off.  Our guides led us upstairs to Frostbites.  Frostbites is more than a ice-cream shop, almost all of their sweets are dairy free!  There is dairy in the chocolate chips, however, so avoid those if you have allergies.  The friendly staff was happy to give us samples of their favorite combinations of the dairy free ice-treats.
One of our favorites was the peanut butter and chocolate ice-treats, I swear it tasted just like a Reeses Peanut Butter(TM) cup!  Want something a little sour?  Ask for the Sour Gummy Worm combo.  Need extreme sour?  Add their sour sugar to any of the treats.  BEWARE though, it is SOUR!  Whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed.  There were no complaints from our group!  I will say that the treats melt fast in the summer heat, you might want to enjoy them indoors or in the shade.

You would think that we were tired after our day of fun, maybe we are a glutton for punishment but we couldn’t resist going back to Dave and Busters to play more games and enjoy dinner.  We didn’t leave there until about 9pm!  When you make your way over there, I would leave plenty of time and not be in a rush.  Also, if you want an extra special savings, Dave and Busters has a half off Wednesday game deal.  Want even more savings and are hungry?  Their combo deal menus give you game play with their food!  What do you get for all those tickets you earned from the games?  You can either choose one of the great adult and kid friendly prizes in the prize area or buy your appetizers with them! You really can’t go wrong and your family will be talking about the fun for a long time. There is lots of fun to be had at Del Amo Fashion Center!
