I love chocolate. And wine. Which is why I am so excited to be covering The Indulge LA Chocolate & Pastry Show, coming to Los Angeles on December 27th. If you haven’t already indulged in enough Christmas treats by then, you’ll have one more chance here before the new year rings in, when we’ll all be trying to stick to those new years resolutions to go back to eating healthier and all that. You have to treat yourself every once and awhile to something special like this though right? AND it’s for such a GREAT cause as this event also benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Another reason why I am so very excited for the Chocolate Festival and Pastry Show to hit Los Angeles is because Celebrity food critique Sophie Gayowill be here hosting the event. I recently had the chance to meet her and sit next to her at a very special media dinner at the Bel Air Bar and Grill (post to come soon about this magical experience. I say magical as it has ties to Disney) and she is a very amazing woman. I was honored to be in her presence, and to hear her words of wisdom, her fiery spirit, and words of inspiration, especially in light of the events that had just so recently happened in Paris. When I read that she was going to be here, it just made me that more excited to go.

Celebrity Dating Expert Brooke Lewis will also be in attendance to host the 7th Annual Indulge Los Angeles at the Olympic Collection.

They will come together to put on a visual heaven in Los Angeles filled with sweet delights paired with the world’s top champagnes, wines, and spirits.

Among the celebrity chefs this year are MOF World Pastry Champion Stephane Treand, and World Champion Chocolatier Jean Marie Auboine.

MACovember at Stacked!

MACovember at Stacked!

Mac ‘n’ Cheese is one of America’s favorite comfort foods, and nobody does it better than Stacked. To help celebrate MACovember, come on in to create your most indulgent or exotic Mac ‘n’ Cheese extravaganza! Don’t miss your chance to take part in MACovember at Stacked: Food Well Built! Although you can Stack your own Mac ’n’ Cheese dish anytime at Stacked, for the month of November they called it MACovember!

Here are a few of our creations on our most recent trip to Stacked! We also STACKED our own salad this time too, to attempt to have something healthier before indulging in all that cheesy goodness (and of course, BACON!!)

*No meal is complete without the famous and oh so yummy Candied Bacon! Paired with a refreshing cider, you can’t go wrong with that!*

In the spirit of stacking our own meal on this trip, we stacked a salad. How’d we do? Steak, avocado, bacon, egg, red peppers, onion strings, olives, corn, and spring greens.

Then it was time to make our choices of what we wanted on our special Mac ‘n’ Cheese creations. We spent quite awhile putting in some serious thought in how we wanted to build our Mac ‘n’ Cheese! Ha!

I wanted lobster, so I went for the Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese and added avocado, bacon, egg, extra cheese, parmesan breadcrumbs, and garlic. Oh man, was it ever good!

My friend went with something a bit more spicy. She stacked hers with blackened chicken, Bleu Cheese, roasted garlic, caramelized onions, sundried tomates, jalapenos, and parmesan bread crumbs. Too spicy for my liking, but she loved it!

Of course we had to end our meal with a little dessert. I tried something different this time, that I had not had before here. We topped our meal off with a Mocha Almond Fudge Shake! So good! Coffee, fudge, toasted almonds, topped with whipped cream! It was he perfect pick me up after our meal and just sweet enough to make my sweet tooth happy.

What would you STACK, your mac with? 🙂 I’d love to see your creations you create at STACKED! <3

Northgate Market in Norwalk

The Mercado Project is Northgate Supermarket’s new shopping concept where the customer experiences a “mercado feel” throughout the store.  Northgate has recreated the individualized Mariscos stall, The Carniceria, Floreria, Lecheria, Panaderia and Coffee Shop for shoppers to enjoy, reminisce or experience for the first time. This was my first time to experience and enjoy this new mercado feel and I loved it. I was absolutely amazed at everything there was to choose from. I was like a kid in a candy store at this place, except on a much larger scale, and there was much more to choose from than just candy! Let me give you a little preview of what you have to look forward to when you get the chance to stop by for yourself… Be warned though… once you come here, you will be coming back often for more tasty treats! 😉

On our tour of Northgate Market, here were some of the highlights.

1.When you first walk into the store, one of the first things you will see is a fresh guacamole bar, where a woman is custom making guacamole just for you.

3. Grab & Go: A large selection of freshly made items for when you’re in a hurry and need something quick. Items change daily and are always made fresh! Salads, Tamales, Sushi, Ceviche, brightly colored glelatinas, arroz con leche and other tasty delights can be found here.

4. An Empanada Bar- Lots of different flavors of empanadas where a native Argentinian is making them fresh in house.
