Shine On With The Color Run!

By Erin

*Disclosure: I was offered complementary passes to The Color Run in my city, however I have always been a fan and supporter of The Color Run. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

The Color Run

There’s a colorful, shiny, glittery event full of happiness coming to town that you won’t want to miss, The Color Run Shine Tour 2015. Not all that long ago, my good friend Melody and I decided to run in one to celebrate our birthdays as our birthdays are one day apart (Mine is May 3rd, hers is May 4th). We were birthday princesses, so of course we had to wear our tiaras. 😉  I love anything with a little bling, and if it’s something to get me outdoors and moving, then that’s even better! 😉

Wether you prefer to walk or run, The Color Run is bringing the community together to participate in the “Happiest 5k on the Planet”.  As the original paint race, they have created a completely new genre of running events that continues to grow exponentially. It is the single largest event series in the world, The Color Run has exploded with more than just color; with 300 events in 50+ countries in 2014.

So WHY should you enter?

I Love Color Runners

American Style

By Erin

There’s a new horse at the barn, and he’s a pretty special guy. Narrowly escaping death as the decision to put him down had been made for the next day as there was no solid interest in him, due to him needing an expensive surgery ($3850) to fix a right hind fractured fetlock followed by 5 months of layup. Luckily for this special guy, American StyleThe Dolly Green Foundation donated funds for his surgery and After the Finish Line will be funding his lay up cost for 5 months! He is now with us at Equine Racers for his layup and aftercare from his surgery and for re-training to find a forever home once he’s cleared to start work again. Isn’t he a doll? Just look at that face!

American Style

American Style is a 2011 Thoroughbred Gelding standing at 16.3 hands high. He was unplaced in 4 starts during his racing career. This incredibly well bred son of Papa Clem out of a Swiss Yodeler mare has major sporthorse and class breeding. American Style retired from racing due to a right hind fractured fetlock. He is looking to start another career as a dressage or as a hunter/jumper horse once he is sound again, hopefully this summer. His prognosis is very good for a full recovery after his surgery.

This boy is such a sweetheart. Extra money is still needed though for his routine vet care, farrier, and extra feed for him! If you would like to donate you may via PayPal to equineracers@aol.com subject American Style, all donations are tax deductible!

American StyleMy first visit with American Style. He was so curious, he couldn’t stand still long enough for me to get a clear shot of him! He wanted to leave his stall to go check out everything. Silly guy, but oh so sweet!

Pretty In Pink at Knott’s For the Cure

By Erin

* This is written by me for GigaSavvy. I do not work for or with any brand mentioned in this article, nor do I have any official relationship with them. I attended a media event for “Knott’s Berry Farm for the Cure” with complementary passes. All thoughts and opinions remain my own.*

Have you been to Knott’s lately? If you have, you may have noticed a lot of pink and hearts decorating the park. No, it’s not for Valentine’s Day, but for something even more special and important. Knott’s Berry Farm is proudly partnering up with Susan G. Komen Orange County for the second year in a row to offer a very special Pink Ticket” through March 27th, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Susan G Komen Orange County, your local breast health organization helping to serve women and save lives.

KnottsPink For the Cure

At the kick off event for Knott’s Pink for the Cure,  we were able to honor an amazing fellow blogger and dear friend, Jaime Jenkins of Polka Dots on Parade, who’s currently fighting breast cancer and is a beautiful, positive woman! She is such a ray of sunshine and brings joy and happiness wherever she goes. Her strength and bright spirit has inspired many of us; her smile will light up the room, her hugs will lift your spirit with how powerful they are, her energy and enthusiasm is contagious.

At the kickoff event, many of the amazing women who are Pink Warriors, survivors of breast cancer, rode on the Jaguar ride at Knott’s.  Many of these courageous ladies will fight every day of their life to make it through this. Their strength and positivity amazes and inspires me. I just love Jaime’s contagious smile here. It is just full of pure joy! 🙂
