Is the Wolf Pass Worth It at Great Wolf Lodge?
By Erin
* I am proud to serve as a Great Wolf Lodge Parent Pack Ambassador. As part of this ambassador program, I may receive complimentary experiences and/or other promotional consideration from Great Wolf Lodge. As always, all thoughts, opinions, and experiences shared on this website are entirely my own. I only recommend destinations, products, and experiences that I genuinely enjoy and believe will be valuable to my readers.*

After spending a few days exploring everything included with the Wolf Pass, I can confidently say it was one of the best decisions we made. Not only did it keep us entertained long after we left the water park, but it also saved us from constantly pulling out our wallets.
The Wolf Pass gave us the freedom to try more activities, create more memories, and enjoy our vacation without worrying about the cost of every little experience.
If you’re planning a stay at Great Wolf Lodge Southern California in the Anaheim area, you’ve probably wondered whether the Wolf Pass is actually worth the extra cost.
I asked myself the exact same question before our stay.
Here’s exactly what our Wolf Pass included, how much value we got from it, and whether I recommend adding it to your next Great Wolf Lodge vacation.
What Is the Wolf Pass at Great Wolf Lodge?
The Wolf Pass is an activity package that bundles many of Great Wolf Lodge’s most popular attractions into one discounted price.
At Great Wolf Lodge Southern California, the Wolf Pass starts at $89.99 per person (plus tax) and includes:
- One MagiQuest game for your entire stay
- One MagiQuest Vellara Wand, Evergreen Leaf Mod, or Belt
- One Pass Exclusive Furry Friend at Build-A-Bear
- Three Northern Lights Arcade games *Excludes virtual reality/headset games
- One Candy Cup from Great Wolf Candy Co
- One Kids Ice Cream from Wood’s End Creamery
- One round of Howl-in-One Mini Golf
- One Laser Tag game
- One admission to Howler’s Peak Ropes Course*
- One round on the Howler’s Peak Adventure Trail*
*Some attractions have height requirements and require closed-toe shoes.
Are There Any Extra Costs with the Wolf Pass?
Yes, but only if you decide to upgrade certain items. And let’s be honest, your kids will probably have their eyes on some of those upgrades!
During our visit, we upgraded our wands, added wand mods, and chose some premium Build-A-Bear characters, outfits, and accessories. We kept the included sizes for the ice cream and candy cups, so we didn’t spend extra on those treats.

Overall, we still found the Wolf Pass to be an amazing value because it includes discounts on additional purchases. And let’s be real, if your kids already love customizing their toys, getting a discount on those extras definitely helps!
Your Wolf Pass includes a MagiQuest Vellara Wand, but if you have your eye on one of the premium wand designs, you can upgrade by paying the difference (typically around $5–10, depending on the wand).

The same goes for the Build-A-Bear experience. During our visit, the Wolf Pass included three adorable furry friends at no extra cost. If you want to choose a premium character or personalize your new friend with outfits, accessories, sounds, or scents, you can add those extras for an additional charge. Wolf Pass guests also receive a discount on these optional add-ons, making it easier to customize your furry friend and create an even more memorable souvenir from your trip.

The included Kids Ice Cream and Candy Cup also make great treats, but if you want to upgrade to a larger scoop of ice cream or a bigger cup of candy (and trust me, it’s tempting!), you simply pay the difference.

None of these upgrades are required, and we never felt like we missed out by sticking with what came included. However, I loved having the option to splurge a little and customize the experience when we wanted to.
Do You Need a Wolf Pass to Enjoy Great Wolf Lodge?
Absolutely not.
The indoor water park alone can easily fill an entire day, and Great Wolf Lodge offers free daily activities throughout the resort that families can enjoy without an additional cost.
However, if your family wants to spend time exploring attractions outside the water park, the Wolf Pass unlocks many of the experiences kids get most excited about.
For our family, the Wolf Pass completely changed our stay.
Instead of stopping at every attraction and debating whether it was worth purchasing separately, we simply enjoyed everything included with our pass. We had the freedom to say “yes” more often, try new activities, and focus on making memories together.
Our Favorite Wolf Pass Activities
MagiQuest Was the Biggest Surprise at Great Wolf Lodge
I had heard about MagiQuest before our visit, but I didn’t realize how immersive it really is.
MagiQuest turned the entire resort into an interactive playground, and it quickly became one of our favorite parts of the trip.
Using the interactive wands, the kids searched throughout the lodge completing quests, unlocking treasures, activating magical objects, and battling dragons.
What started as a game quickly became an adventure that had us walking through every floor of the resort searching for the next magical challenge.

Even after taking breaks for swimming or meals, we could jump right back into our quest whenever we wanted.
The Build-A-Bear was an Unexpected Bonus at Great Wolf Lodge

One of the cutest surprises included with the Wolf Pass was an exclusive Build-A-Bear furry friend.
The kiddos absolutely loved picking out their new stuffed friends, and it became one of their favorite souvenirs from the trip.

Instead of bringing home another souvenir that would eventually get tucked away, they brought home something they will actually remember this vacation by.
Laser Tag was Fun for Everyone at Great Wolf Lodge.

Whether you’re traveling with older kids or competitive adults, Laser Tag is a blast.
It was fast-paced, family-friendly, and a fun way to burn off even more energy before heading back to the water park.
Is there Mini Golf, Ropes Course and Adventure Trail at Great Wolf Lodge?

There is mini golf, a ropes course and adventure trail at the Great Wolf Lodge in Southern California. We loved playing a round of Howl-in-One Mini Golf before heading over to the Adventure Trail and the Ropes Course.
Challenge your family to a fun round of Howl in One Mini Golf as you putt your way through a whimsical, wolf-themed course. Then, head over to the Howler’s Peak Adventure Trail, where you’ll cross bridges, navigate obstacles, and put your balance and agility to the test. If you’re looking for even more excitement, climb, balance, and conquer aerial obstacles on the Howler’s Peak Ropes Course for an unforgettable adventure high above the lodge.

These attractions were perfect because they gave us a break from the water while still keeping the excitement going.
Do Adults Need a Wolf Pass?
This really depends on how you vacation.
If you’re planning to relax while the kids play, you probably don’t need one for yourself.
However, if you’re like me and enjoy participating in the activities alongside your kids, nieces, nephews, or grandkids, then having your own Wolf Pass makes the experience much more interactive.
I love making memories together and participating in the adventures. Not just watching from the sidelines.
Sharing these experiences together creates some of our favorite vacation memories.
Are there different Great Wolf Lodge attraction passes?
Yes! Great Wolf Lodge offers different attraction pass options, so you can choose the one that best fits your child’s age, interests, and budget. Not every child wants to do every attraction, so selecting the right pass can help you get the best value during your stay.
For example, your child may only want Build-A-Bear, arcade, candy, and ice cream. Then a Pup Pass would be perfect for them.

In Southern California, a Pup Pass starts at $49.99 (plus tax) and includes:
- One Pass Exclusive Furry Friend at Build-A-Bear
- Three Northern Lights Arcade Games *Excludes virtual reality/headset games
- One Candy Cup from Great Wolf Candy Co.
- One Kids Ice Cream from Wood’s End Creamery
There is also a Paw Pass, which starts at $69.99 (plus tax) in Southern California and includes:
- One MagiQuest Game for Your Entire Stay
- One MagiQuest Vellara Wand, Evergreen Leaf Mod, or Belt
- Three Northern Lights Arcade Games *Excludes virtual reality/headset games
- One Candy Cup from Great Wolf Candy Co.
- One Kids Ice Cream from Wood’s End Creamery
- One Pair of Select Swim Goggles
- One Leather Treaty Waistband
Does the Wolf Pass Save Money?
DEFINITELY, you save money with a Great Wolf Lodge Wolf Pass. When you add up everything included, purchasing each attraction separately would cost significantly more than buying the package.
Even if you don’t use every single benefit, it’s surprisingly easy to get your money’s worth.
The Build-A-Bear, MagiQuest experience, ropes course, laser tag, mini golf, arcade games, candy, and ice cream add up quickly. Instead of worrying about individual prices throughout your stay, everything is already taken care of.

How to Get the Most Value from a Wolf Pass
If you’re purchasing the Wolf Pass, my biggest tip is simple:
Start using it as soon as you arrive.
We alternated between the water park and the attractions throughout the day, which made the entire experience feel more relaxed.
Instead of trying to squeeze everything into one evening, we enjoyed activities whenever we wanted.
I’d also recommend packing closed-toe shoes so you’re ready for the ropes course and Adventure Trail.
Is the Wolf Pass Worth It?
For our pack, absolutely.
If your plan is to spend most of your vacation enjoying everything Great Wolf Lodge has to offer, not just the water park, then the Wolf Pass is one of the best values available.
It gave us a full day of adventures, created some of our favorite memories from the trip, and kept everyone smiling from morning until bedtime. No melt-downs, no fighting, everyone got to pick out their own things and do all the activities their hearts desired. So it was a win for everyone.
Between becoming MagiQuest heros, building their own furry friends, enjoying laser tag, mini golf, arcade games, sweet treats, and all the excitement around the lodge, there was never a dull moment.
However, I wouldn’t recommend the Wolf Pass for every family.
If you plan to spend most of your trip away from the resort, skip the Wolf Pass.
The water park alone offers plenty of fun for a shorter stay.
If you DO plan to spend lots of time at the resort, the Wolf Pass is absolutely worth considering.
It lets you enjoy the attractions without paying for each activity separately with some great savings.
If you’re visiting Great Wolf Lodge Southern California with kids who love adventure, I definitely recommend adding the Wolf Pass to your stay. It transforms your getaway from a fun water park vacation into a full resort experience packed with activities the whole family can enjoy.
