Is Aulani Worth It? The Ultimate Guide to Planning a Magical Summer Vacation at Disney’s Hawaiian Resort

Is Aulani Worth It? The Ultimate Guide to Planning a Magical Summer Vacation at Disney’s Hawaiian Resort 🌺

By Erin

If you’ve ever wondered “Is Aulani really worth visiting?” The answer is a very magical yes.

Tucked along the stunning shores of Ko Olina on the island of Oʻahu, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa blends Disney storytelling with authentic Hawaiian culture to create one of the most unique vacation destinations in the world.

Unlike a traditional Disney theme park vacation, Aulani is about slowing down, soaking up island life, and creating unforgettable family memories, all while still enjoying the thoughtful details and immersive experiences Disney is famous for.

From floating down a tropical lazy river to snorkeling with vibrant fish, meeting your favorite Disney characters in aloha shirts, and watching breathtaking Hawaiian sunsets over the Pacific, Aulani delivers a kind of magic that feels both relaxing and adventurous at the same time.

Whether you’re planning a summer family vacation, a couples getaway, or a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Hawaii, here’s why Aulani deserves a spot at the top of your travel list.

What Makes Aulani Different From Other Hawaiian Resorts?

One of the things that sets Disney’s Hawaiian resort apart is how deeply it honors the culture and traditions of Hawai‘i.

Disney partnered with local artists, historians, and cultural experts to make sure Aulani celebrates the stories of the islands rather than simply recreating a typical Disney resort.

You’ll see this throughout the property in:

• Hawaiian artwork and carvings throughout the resort
• Cultural classes and storytelling experiences
• Traditional island cuisine and ingredients
• Architecture inspired by Hawaiian history

The result is a resort that feels authentically Hawaiian while still delivering Disney magic.

Our Stay in a 2-Bedroom Villa at Aulani

One of the highlights of our stay at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa was the 2-bedroom villa, which felt like our own little island home. With plenty of space to relax, a fully equipped kitchen, multiple bathrooms, and a lanai to enjoy the tropical air, it was perfect for families who need comfort and flexibility. The design beautifully blends Hawaiian culture with Disney magic, making every corner feel thoughtful and welcoming.

Having room for everyone to spread out, plus a washer and dryer for convenience, made our stay so easy, especially after long days at the pools, beach, or luau. For families, the villas strike the perfect balance of luxury, practicality, and togetherness, giving everyone a private space while still keeping family moments at the heart of the stay. These rooms can accomodate up to 9 people.

The Pools, Lazy River & Water Adventures Everyone Loves

At the heart of Aulani is Waikolohe Valley, an incredible outdoor water playground designed for all ages.

Some of the most popular experiences include:

Waikolohe Stream Lazy River

Drift through lush tropical landscaping, waterfalls, and lava rock formations in one of the most relaxing lazy rivers you’ll ever experience.

Rainbow Reef Snorkeling Lagoon

A private snorkeling lagoon where guests can swim alongside hundreds of colorful tropical fish. This is an extra charge, but the length of stay access is totally worth it.

One-Day Access: $30 per adult (ages 10 and up); $25 per child (ages 9 and under)

Length-of-Stay Access: $50 per adult (ages 10 and up); $40 per child (ages 9 and under)

🎢 Volcanic Vertical Water Slide

Thrill seekers will love this twisting body slide that sends riders racing through a volcano-inspired lava tube.

Ko Olina Lagoon Beach

The calm waters of Ko Olina make this beach perfect for paddleboarding, swimming, and relaxing in the sunshine.

Foodie Guide to Wisconsin Dells: The Flavors You Can’t Miss

Where to Eat in Wisconsin Dells: A Food Lover’s Guide

Foodie Guide to Wisconsin Dells: The Flavors You Can’t Miss. What to Eat in the Wisconsin Dells

Here is my foodie guide to Wisconsin Dells! From cheese curds to ice cream, our Wisconsin Dells trip was basically a full-time snacking job, and we took it VERY seriously. In just a couple of days, we devoured our way through tacos, steak, diner breakfasts straight out of a movie, and desserts that deserve their own fan club. Whether it was lakeside bites with a view or late-night treats after the waterparks, every stop was worth every calorie (and then some). And the craziest part? We barely scratched the surface, there are SO many more spots we’re wanting to try next time. Wisconsin Dells, you fed us well… and we’re already planning round two for next summer.

Here are a handful of standout restaurants that fueled our foodie expedition:

1. Bella Goose Coffee – Cafe on the River

Address: 2370 Wisconsin Dells Pkwy, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965
This charming riverside café is famous for its freshly roasted, house-made syrups and welcoming, home-style vibe. Tucked beside the Kilbourn Dam, it’s perfect for sipping a standout latte and indulging in breakfast or lunch with a view.

2. Mr. Pancake

Address: 1405 Wisconsin Dells Pkwy, WI 53965
A beloved Dells classic, Mr. Pancake whips up made-from-scratch pancakes, waffles, and omelets daily, with fan-favorite specials like Hot Fudge Banana Split Waffle, Strawberry Pancakes, and savory blintzes. Breakfast dreams do come true here! I had the blueberry pancakes and they were delicious!
