Minnie Mouse Lemon Play-Dough

Looking for something fun for your little ones to do? This homemade Minnie Mouse Lemon Play-Dough recipe is edible, cheap, quick and easy to make with a Disney twist for some added magic! It’s fun for your kids and won’t hurt them if they happen to take a bite! It’s also excellent for developing a child’s fine motor skills. This activity helps children to strengthen their small muscles in their fingers by squishing and squashing. This has been one of my 1 1/2 year old niece’s favorite things to make and play with lately.

What You Need

1 tub Lemon frosting

1 cup cornstarch

Colorful sprinkles

Edible Glitter

Food cutters (Disney Character shapes for some added magic!)

*Optional* Food coloring if you want to change the color, my niece loves purple so of course we made some purple play-dough too ;)*

Instructions

  1. Add 1 full tub of Lemon frosting to a big mixing bowl
  2. Combine with 1/2 cup of cornstarch and mix with a spatula, spoon or your hand mixer. Then add the remaining ½ cup of cornstarch one spoonful at a time and mix well. Finish kneading the dough by hand until completely mixed. The play dough should be completely mixed and pliable but no longer sticky.
Making Minnie Mouse Lemon Play Dough
  1. Make small bowls of play doh and flatten the dough
  2. Use the food cutters to make shapes from the dough. After you push the food cutter down, wiggle it a little bit to make a clean shape then twist it to separate the outer part of the dough. Push the shape gently with your finger out of the food cutter.
  3. Decorate with colorful sprinkles and/or edible glitter!

If your edible play dough crumbles or gets too tough, soften with any type of oil. If the play dough gets sticky add a little cornstarch to soften. Discard after playtime is over. While this play dough is “edible” it is not meant to be eaten in large quantities!

  1. Don’t have to worry about little ones eating play dough by accident (or not!). Sending this to my neighbor. She’s running out of fun ideas to do with her little ones.

  2. We love play-dough in our house. I will have to try out this and see how it is. I’m sure my kids are going to love playing with it.
