Arlo the Alligator Boy Netflix Poster

Netflix has been my go to lately for watching new shows and movies. They have been creating some amazing content that is great for adults and children alike. Arlo the Alligator Boy is a cute one with some catchy songs and a great message that the whole family will love.

About the Film

Upon learning that he is from New York City, Arlo, a wide-eyed boy who is half human and half alligator, decides to leave his sheltered life in the swamp and search for his long lost father. The animated musical movie, Arlo the Alligator Boy, will launch Arlo’s journey as he meets a group of misfits who quickly become his new family. Once Arlo’s adventure lands him in New York City, the series, I ❤️️Arlo, will kick off as he and his newfound crew set up shop in an abandoned seaside neighborhood and help bring it back to life.

The movie is recommended for kids 7 years and older, but I think smaller kids will enjoy it as well, as the songs are very catchy. My 2 year old niece is singing ALL the songs she hears in movies right now, including movement the characters make while singing. It is the cutest thing. Currently her favorite is “Let it Go” form Frozen. I can totally see her singing these songs and moving to the beat as Arlo and his friends sing. I really liked the songs and I am sure kids will enjoy them as well as the story of the half alligator half boy character.

This film serves as the launch pad for the upcoming I Heart Arlo series on Netflix, so we will get to see a lot more of Arlo in the near future!

Virtual Roundtable with the Cast

This past week I participated in  a virtual roundtable for Arlo the Alligator Boy. In attendance were Michael J. Woodard (“Arlo,” former contestant on Season 16 of American Idol), Mary Lambert (“Bertie,” Grammy-nominated for her collaboration on “Same Love” with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis), Ryan Crego (director & EP, story artist on Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda 2 and more).

We each asked one question. I asked Michael and Mary what they were most proud of about creating this film.

Michael jumped in and told us he was most proud of the social impact that it’s going to have on a lot of children and the world.

“I think this movie translates to people young and old. There’s a lesson inside of it for all ages. I can’t wait to see the impact it has on such young kids. The songs are catchy and the animation makes a young one want to watch it over and over again. The fact they are learning life changing lessons is something I am so proud of. Me Ryan and Mary, and the whole crew really accomplished that. I can’t wait for that. Also the joy its going to bring, I am a huge stickler for positive content. Especially in the age and time we all exist in now. It is important to have content like this. I can’t wait for it to put a smile on so many peoples faces and am so happy to be a part of that.”

Mary is so excited and proud for people to hear the music and her favorite thing is hearing kids sing her songs. She’s always wanted to have a little girl princess coming up to her singing “Let it Go” (I think Mary needs to watch my niece! lol 😉 ) “I’m really excited for little kids to sing “Follow Me Home” or “Better Together” and the messaging of the whole film and how people respond to the music.”

Well Mary & Michael, I think you will have TONS of kids smiling, including my little niece, singing and dancing in their princess outfits to your songs! <3

Arlo the Alligator Boy is a sweet, joyful, animated musical you will want to watch with the family this weekend on Netflix!
