Walking the Purple Carpet at the Inside Out Premiere!
By Erin
*I attended as a guest of Disney as a part of the Inside Out Event and I am very grateful for the opportunity to do so.*
Last Monday marked the rainbow colored Los Angeles premiere of Inside Out. The movie’s stars, included Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black and Mindy Kaling who all walked the vibrant purple carpet on June 8th. The star-studded premiere also included Mario Lopez, Pink, Rob Riggle, Minnie Driver, Busy Philipps and many more. This was my 2nd time walking the red carpet at a premiere. Or rather I should say *first time* walking the purple carpet as this carpet was NOT red, but a brilliant PURPLE! My first time on a red one was last summer for Guardians of the Galaxy, which was also a very memorable experience.
So come take a walk with me along the *Purple* carpet! 🙂
At the premiere they had a model of what the control center looks like inside of 11-year-old Riley’s mind!
As we continued to make our way down the carpet, we noticed that they had themed games that represented the five islands of Riley’s personality — family, goofball, friendship, hockey, and honesty.
They even had a bounce house and a silly, but fun Honesty Island game, which of course we had to play!
Being the total foodie that I am, I had to take some shots of all the delicious eats and movie themed food items. You might not quite get the Broccoli Pizza bit just yet… go see the movie this Friday, then you’ll be in on the joke too. 🙂
Then these cupcakes, how adorable are they? They were quite tasty too!
Of course what would a *purple* carpet event be without all the movie stars??? 😉
Follow Along with me at Disney’s Inside Out Red Carpet Event in LA!
By Erin
Hey everyone!!! Guess what??? I’m Going to LA in just a few short days!!!!!! EEK!!! Well…..wait a minute, that doesn’t sound right, I live in LA, well technically closer to Long Beach, but still, It’s LA County. It probably sounds more exciting when all of the other bloggers from out of state say that. 😉 So, I’ll be traveling about 30 miles north of where I am, up the 605, to the 5, then the 101; but you know, in LA traffic that can take anywhere from 1-2 hours!
If you’ve been following along here for a while, you know I’ve been attending the press junkets for the majority of the Disney Movies coming out. Well, Disney has given me an opportunity of a lifetime to attend the Inside Out Event, which is one thing I’ve been wanting to do since I created this blog. To be able to attend press trips and events for anything and everything having to do with Disney, Disneyland, Disney World. You get the idea!
So it has happened! My first press trip (and hopefully not my last!!) with Disney is happening! Disney has us all there for not only the red carpet premiere of Pixar’s Inside Out, but for so much more! Wait until you read what else is in store for myself and 24 other lucky bloggers beginning this coming weekend on Sunday, June 7th! Check out what’s in store below!
First I will be attending a press junket for Inside Out, which is separate from this event, but as soon as that is over, I will be wasting no time and jumping right on over from that and into the fun which is starting at the CBS Television Studios for a live taping of Celebrity Family Feud. We have not gotten any word of who the celebrity families will be, but I do know that the survey does say that it will be hosted by the highly popular and beloved Emmy Award-winning talk show host Steve Harvey!Celebrity Family Feud will be pitting celebrities against each other in a contest to name the most popular responses to a survey-type question posed to 100 people. Who doesn’t LOVE Family Feud! This was one of my favorite game shows to watch (and still IS) as a kid!
You can follow along with us on this part of the trip using #ABCTVEventand #CelebrityFamilyFeud and will be airing June 21st 8/7C.
Our next fun-filled day has us arriving bright and early at the Walt Disney Studios lot for breakfast and then we will be viewing thePhineas and Ferb episode “The Last Day of Summer” followed by a Q & A session with the Creators and Executive Producers Dan Povenmire &Jeff “Swampy” Marsh. Following this, we will enjoy a fun summer picnic with Dan, Swampy and Phineas & Ferb themselves! What a way to start the day! Many photos will be taken for sure.
You can follow along with us on this part of the trip using #PhineasAndFerbEventand will be airingJune 12th at 9pm ET/PT on Disney XD.
Is it just me, or does Disney keep pulling out all the stops with their films? Whether itsBig Hero 6, Into the Woods or all they’re accomplishing with The Marvel Universe, it can be hard to come up for air when so much pure awesome-ness is surrounding you at the movie theatre.
Their newest gem? Tomorrowland, hitting the big screen TODAY, May 22nd. I was treated to an advanced IMAX screening and let me tell you, it will not disappoint. Tomorrowland is easily my favorite part to visit at Disneyland, but what if a land where anything truly is possible existed? With a world of tomorrow’s happening every, single day.
That’s just what happens when we’re introduced to a young Frank Walker (later played by George Clooney). The era is mid 1960s, & this adorable young chap has taken a grueling long bus trek to enter The New York’s World Fair & show off his jetpack invention to the powers that be at this event. “The powers that be” is Mr. David Nix (Hugh Laurie), who is less than impressed at this boy in front of him, as he excuses him away, a little girl named Athena (Raffey Cassidy) sees some kind of magic in Frank, & offers him a mysterious pin, encouraging him to check out an attraction (I am not going to tell you, but I will just say: It’s an attraction we all know & love!). There, he is transported to a fantastic, not of this world place, where little Frank’s jetpacks seem like nothing compared to this city of Tomorrowland.
Fast forward to now, & we’re introduced to young rebel, Casey (Britt Robertson). Casey’s Dad (Tim McGraw) works at NASA but, alas, things are changing & his job is in jeopardy. Casey finds much of the current state of the world not good, & therefore does her own kinds of things to try to change that. When one of her antics lands her in jail, she soon discovers that she now has one of those mysterious pins, when her bail is posted & her belongings are returned. As you’ve probably seen in the trailers, just picking up this “T” pin, transports Casey to who knows where. Not one to let things slide, she next sets out on an adventure to discover more about this pin.
Luckily, it is then that Casey meets a young girl….I will let you guess who this is once again 😉 & thus, their own road trip begins in order for Casey to connect with the now-recluse Frank.
Visually, this film is outstanding. I cannot recommend enough to see & soak in all its beauty in IMAX. With so many twists & turns, I want to be careful not to give too much away. Director Brad Bird is certainly on the right path at securing his place in the world of the Director for futuristic, sci-fi films. Think no further than his last Disney collaboration, 2005’s The Incredibles. The dynamics of this cast is pure gold, as well. What continued to amaze me throughout the course of Tomorrowland, were the strong performances led by Robertson & Cassidy; these young women have the chops to not only hold their own among some of the film industry’s leading men, but are paving their path to become A list status, as well.
This also goes for Clooney. Always a superb performer, I do admit I wondered what it would be like seeing him play against such fresh, new talent. He absolutely shines, & the role of Frank Walker was made for him; word is this role was written for him, personally, & it shows.
Tomorrowland is playing everywhere today, & while it’s a great choice for the family, I especially recommend it for families with children over 12.
Enjoy!
