The holiday season is upon us in full force, and another fun place that I’ve found to help get you in the holiday spirit is CHILL at the Queen Mary, in Long Beach, CA! Last year my friend  Mary, from Along Comes Mary invited some of us to go with her to Chill and I had a blast! This year, I was invited out by the Queen Mary to come check out CHILL at their VIP Media day coming up this Thursday. Since last year was so much fun, I am very excited to see what is in store for this years CHILL and I cannot wait to share some pictures of what CHILL has to offer this year!

Beginning November 22, the Queen Mary will be covered by a deep freeze for the 2nd annual CHILL, an experience that will bring you holiday cheer, enchantment and Arctic temperatures. Over two million pounds of ICE is used to create the coolest place on the west coast! Here are a few pictures from last years chill. Look at how awesome that is, and it’s ALL ICE! =) Burrrr

Wordless Wednesday: Rainbow Harbor in Beautiful Long Beach, CA

Wordless Wednesday: Rainbow Harbor in Beautiful Long Beach, CA

By: Erin

One of my favorite places to go to and spend a day at in SoCal is down at Rainbow Harbor, in Long Beach, CA. Growing up in Long Beach, I’ve seen how Rainbow Harbor has evolved and changed over the years and have many fond memories of the time spent here. Rainbow Harbor is located next to the Aquarium of the Pacific and Shoreline Village. Shoreline Village overlooks Rainbow Harbor with arcades and restaurants to please the whole family. With the Pike, Pine St. and the Queen Mary also nearby, you can easily spend an entire day here enjoying the outdoors in the bright, warm sunshine. Other attractions include Whale Watching, Dinner Cruises, Private Charters, Sport Fishing, Boat Rentals, Personal Watercraft Rentals and shuttle busses and boats to other attractions and facilities in Long Beach.

Here are some pictures and you can judge for yourself. Can you see why I love spending time here when I can? What would you most like to see here?

Wordless Wednesday: Aquarium Memories, Then & Now

Wordless Wednesday: Aquarium Memories, Then & Now

By: Erin

One place that has always had a special place in my heart is the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific.   I volunteered there when it first opened back in 1998, I was a junior in high school. So here are a few photographs of me during my volunteer days there and at a special volunteer appreciation event that they had for us as well as some from a recent trip to the aquarium. I hope you enjoy the fishies and these aquarium memories as much as I do!

The Aquarium of the Pacific’s mission is to instill a sense of wonder, respect, and stewardship for the Pacific Ocean, its inhabitants, and ecosystems.

Their vision over at the Aquarium of the Pacific is to create an aquarium that is dedicated to conserving and building Natural Capital (Nature and Nature’s services) by building Social Capital (the interactions between and among peoples).

The Aquarium of the Pacific is just one of the amazing places to go when visiting Long Beach in beautiful Southern California!
