Star Wars: The Force Awakens! The Cast, Costumes and More!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

By Erin

*I was invited as press by Disney to the Global Press Day for Star Wars: The Force Awakens for purposes of this post.*

The wait is almost over. The most anticipated film of the year; Star Wars: The Force Awakens is about to blast into theaters everywhere. Die-hard fans have been camping out for days in the cold and the rain, awaiting the arrival of the next installment of Star Wars. Everything for this film has been kept top-secret, in order to keep it fresh and new for everyone to enjoy without any spoilers. This included the press junket for Star Wars and its location. I’ve done a lot of press junkets now, and this was by far the most secretive and under wraps one yet! We were even instructed not to Geo-tag any of our posts, or we would be asked to leave. Usually there are signs once we get to the location telling us which way to go to get to the correct room for the junket, but not this one! Everything was secret. In the email it said to go upstairs and look for a white curtain. No signs anywhere, nothing. Just this white curtain, so unless you knew what to look for, you’d never know by just walking by, what was behind this very magic curtain.

This junket was very different from the rest, as usually we are able to see the movie before the junket. This one we didn’t. We didn’t get to see it until just yesterday. Everything was top secret! So I will be giving you a little different perspective on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens than in other junket posts. This is more what my experience was and some information and thoughts from the cast on creating this masterpiece. So don’t worry, no spoilers here about the actual film! 😉

The set for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Global Press Day! We wait in anticipation for the cast to walk out!

Mindy Kaling

Eeek! Mindy Kaling (From The Office & Inside Out) was the moderator for the press conference! The conference was in two groups. The first group she introduced us to interview was: Carrie Fisher (“Leia”), JJAbrams (Director/Producer), Daisy Ridley (“Rey”), Adam Driver (“Kylo Ren”), Lupita Nyong’o (“Maz Kanata”), Lawrence Kasdan (Screenplay By).

Star Wars- Daisy Ridley-Rey-Adam-Driver-Kylo-RenSince we did not talk about the film directly (as no one had seen it), one of the things we did discuss that really caught my interest was about the costumes. We asked the cast how long it took them to get into costume.

Daily Ridley (Rey): “Twenty minutes. Does that seem long or short? Cause putting the arm things on and everything takes a while, and the wraps and everything. Had a wonderful woman called Callie helping me.”

Adam Driver (Kylo Ren): “The first time took like an hour and a half. Then we got it down to like 20 minutes, I think.”

Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata):For me it took about – well, I didn’t have a costume because I was a motion capture character, but to get suited up it took about – in the beginning it took like two and half hours, maybe three. And then by the end we had it down to about an hour or an hour 15.”

Lawrence Kasdan (Screenplay): “I was ready like that. Show up ready to go.”

Carrie Fisher (Leia): “How long did it take to get into costume? About 10 minutes for the 20. I’m older and I do it faster. No, really, 20 minutes. I have a kind of classy gas station attendant look. So that doesn’t take long to put on.”

They had many of the costumes on display for us to see just how detailed and intricate each one was. From left to right you have: Captain Phasma, Rey, and Poe. What does each character have to put on to complete their costume?

A First Look at Disney Infinity 3.0 and the Inside Out Play Set! #InsideOutEvent #DisneyInfinity

A First Look at Disney Infinity 3.0 and the Inside Out Play Set!

By Erin

*As a part of the Inside Out Event I got a first look at Disney Infinity 3.0 and  the Inside Out Play Set. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

Disney Infinity 3.0 will be blasting into homes everywhere coming this fall, and you won’t want to be left out. After getting to check it out for myself the other week, I am hooked and cannot wait to play. Disney Infinity 3.0 will be offering several play sets like some Star Wars themed play sets: Twilight of the Republic, Rise Against the Empire, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens as well as an Inside Out play set!

Disney Infinity 3.0 will be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, iOS, and Android this fall.

Disney Infinity 3.0 and Star Wars

A few other details you may want to know about Disney Infinity 3.0?

1. Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition is joining forces with Star Wars!

Star Wars play sets: Twilight of the Republic includes these characters– Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Darth Maul.

Rise Against the Empire includes–Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Darth Vader.

Coming Winter 2015–Play set based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens

2. TRON Characters— Sam and Quorra will be available as physical figures at the release of Disney Infinity 3.0.

3. Disney Infinity 3.0 will include more Disney and Marvel content, like Inside Out! 🙂

4. All new Toy Box Expansion Games! Toy Box Takeover and Toy Box Speedway.

5. Lower Price Point.— Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack will now sell for a lower suggested retail price of $64.99

What about the Inside Out Play Set?

The Inside Out Play Set takes players on a platforming adventure through the mind, in what is a sort of sequel to Inside Out. After Riley falls asleep on the couch while watching a horror movie, her subconscious is sent into a state of chaos, and her memories go flying all around Imagination Land. Her emotions: Joy, Anger, Disgust, Sadness and Fear have the task to return all of these memories to headquarters as they fight their way through the chaos of Riley’s imagination, before she wakes up.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Inside Out play sets have 5 playable characters, each with their own unique capabilities. To complete all 25 levels successfully, learning to switch between the characters is a must.

Joy has the ability to glide across gaps.

Anger can walk through beds of hot lava without getting any injuries. I think he’s Angry here since he still has to wait for Disney Infinity 3.0 to come out.

Fear is the fastest in the group and he has the ability to run across bridges and other objects before they can collapse under his feet.

Disgust can jump higher than anyone in the group. She’s also wondering if Disney Infinity is out yet!?

Sadness has the ability to walk on clouds. She thinks it’s sad that Disney Infinity 3.0 isn’t already out for us to enjoy. I agree! 😉

The game can be played as a single-player, but  playing co-op is helpful. With the co-op options, emotions have the capability to help each other. If they have to make their way through the clouds, Sadness could carry Fear, or if they have to go through a collapsing bridge, Fear could pick up Sadness instead.

Inside Out

Step inside Headquarters and help the crew of Emotions guide Riley back to a happy life in her new home in the Inside Out Play Set coming this Fall!

Until the Disney Infinity 3.0 fun comes out, be sure to go see Inside Out (again)! 😉
